STOP PRESS: New government advice for anyone selling their home.

Here is the current government advice for anyone looking to move home. It’s very comprehensive but if you are thinking of selling this year rest assured that in the short term we will be able to value your home remotely through WhatsApp or Facetime, and we are also looking to find ways to provide our free home staging consultations remotely. What better while self-isolating than tackling those DIY jobs that you have been putting off for years, or perhaps giving the property a thorough de-clutter and spring clean as a way to get your daily exercise!

Here’s the advice in full:

PurpleBricks bill clients £18m in 2019 for property they failed to sell

Amzing article here about so called disruptor PurpleBricks and not something they seem to mention in their glossy TV ads, but they pocketed £18million from clients whose houses they failed to sell in 2019. Their business model is great for them with the upfront fees but not for their customers it would seem with no incentive to actually sell the house or follow the agreed sale through to exchange. That really is commissery!

Why we don’t take or give referral fees to other businesses

It is common practice for estate agents to ask for a fee when recommending a solicitor to their clients and the Govenment have called for this to be more transparent. We have never taken or given them and simply don’t agree with the idea. We’re happy to recommend solicitors and other businesses but only because we know that they will do a great job for our clients, not because we’ll get paid. The issue is back in the spotlight as Trading Standards report to the Government this month – this article is worth a read. http://bit.ly/386eTbj
